- Is this real Saffiano ?In Help! How do I...31 December 2024Thanks for the clarification … should I consider it a good leather? It came from Springfield leather in the US and they say it’s from tanneries used by luxury brands. It feels like plastic on top, and I don’t want to pass it off as luxury leather if it is not! Thanks1
- Is this real Saffiano ?In Help! How do I...·26 October 2024I recently bought a bundle of "saffiano" hides from Springfield Leather in the US. I have limited experience with this leather and am questioning if it's real! The back looks like some kind of fabric, and there are small areas where you can see there's a layer of leather- or is it vinyl - glued to the fabric. I'm not sure maybe this is part of the process, but I can't make an unlined bag with these, and ... IS IT REAL? Thanks!! I;m only showing the bad parts of the hides. They are truly beautiful colors otherwise !~!1397

- My results after a yearIn Welcome! ·24 June 2024Hello Peter and everyone here! It's been a year since I dedicated myself to a full time leatherwork, and I would like to thank you, Mr Nitz for motivating me to take this step. Your tutorials and the way you teach (everything looks easy and accomplishable for a complete beginner) opened my eyes and gave me the knowledge I've been looking for years. There is still much to learn and a lot of hard work ahead to achieve perfection and a level I seek, but here is one of my bags.... designed as a transformative purse - from elegant clutch bag to a shoulder bag, inspired by a metamorphosis of nature - a reflection of sea waves and sand beach shifting beauty. Fully made in goat leather and saddle stitched, of course. Feel free to take a look at my Instagram profile: https://www.instagram.com/marijetaferri/ P.S. I have to thank everyone in forum section, as weel as crafters avilable on social media for willing to share thier work and information, as well as their support. I am happy to be a part of this network.42171
- Hello from JapanIn Welcome! ·24 June 2024Hello Everyone, just wanted to introduce myself. Recently picked up this hobby after moving to Japan, had to leave behind my workshop in Belgium where I enjoyed watch and tool making. There is allot of info and advice on the internet, although great and I’m thankful of people sharing, what I saw was mostly not the direction I wanted my leatherwork to evolve in. So I’m thankful for Peter to share and put out these tutorials. I'm very happy to learn all the details and these invaluable small tips and tricks. Some of the first things I made I followed the card wallet video, just used leather I had available. Have some goatskin hides on order to make a 2nd attempt at the card wallet and next up the bifold wallet. Hope to learn allot from Peter and all of you! BR,Dirk2184
- Tailor made hardwareIn Help! How do I...·21 June 2024Hi there! I am looking for some providers who can create tailor made hardware. I've browsed the forum and found nice hardware builders, but didn't see a mention of one offering a customisation service. I was wondering for instance, where do you guys at Peter's atelier have your own hardware designed? Thanks in advance for your help! Best Rémi16169

- Peter Nitz Wallet, what I learnedIn Welcome! ·13 October 2020I have been following Peter for about a year and his work was an inspiration from the get-go. I remember before he was on his way to his vacation last year he made a few cardholders and instantly sold them. The fact that it seems simple enough to make encouraged me to make my own. Result? disaster. I could not make the exact same thing at the same quality. Fast forward, took this course, and had my second attempt at making his cardholder. Result? WTH? that simple? To understand the structure and sizes and proportions better, I decided to make 10 different cardholders, with various thickness and leather type. So here is my progress, keep in mind they are not finished yet:1211907
- Course suggestionIn Help! How do I...·20 March 2021It’s one thing to search YouTube for what you want to make and learn there, it’s another to ask a master crafter to explain the process in the correct way to you. one year of searching YouTube for various techniques and found literally everything to be affecting your learning journey in a negative way. Correcting bad habits is more difficult than you think. So I suggest we all list the things we want to learn allowing Peter to organize a roadmap and courses for our learning for the next few years. what do you want to learn or make? what skills are you missing? What projects you want to do and find challengiby?813448
