Hi, I'm trying to use box stitch to create a 3D shape around a curve. Does anyone have a recommended way to to mark stitching holes on both pieces of leather? If I mark them with the same spacing, the holes on the outer piece can not catch up with the holes on the inner piece because of the thickness.
I'm also worried that if I only mark the holes on the outside and stitch with an awl, the holes that come out on the inside will be too close together.
Please let me know if you have a good way to solve this! Thanks!
Hi Hazel
ideally the best solution is to have your holes punched on the outside and then stitch using the awl to make each hole as you stitch around the curve. I know its hard at first but with some practice you will get it.
